Spotlight on Millie – our new Apprentice in Oswestry

Bringing fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for people and property, Millie is already a fantastic addition to the team.

Started in January 2025, 18-year-old Millie Birch is embarking on a structured 12-month apprenticeship, blending hands-on experience with formal training. This marks our second apprenticeship as a business and cements our place as the first estate agency in Shropshire to engage with this exciting new property-focused course from Hereford Colleges.

Millie completed her studies last year at Llanfyllin High School, where she took Business Studies, Media Studies, and the Welsh Baccalaureate. She’s a familiar face at the Green Inn pub in Llangedwin, her family’s business, where she honed her excellent people skills and self-confidence.

Now, she’s channelling that energy into estate agency — assisting with viewings, photography, and getting to grips with everything from first-time buyer schemes to identifying renovation opportunities for creative home seekers. Millie’s eye for detail helps her highlight charming features like exposed brickwork or period details. Even when a home isn’t ‘Insta-perfect’, she sees the potential it holds for the right buyer.

“I really enjoy being out and about, taking photos and chatting to clients,” says Millie. “I love learning how to spot a hidden gem — a home that just needs someone’s imagination.”

Millie recently visited Stones Wharf, a new development by Shropshire Homes in Weston Rhyn, where buyers can choose their kitchen and bathroom finishes. It’s this kind of on-the-ground experience that gives Millie an edge — and she’s soaking it all in.

When she’s not at Monks, you’ll find Millie walking her two dogs and enjoying the Shropshire countryside. With a bright future ahead, Millie’s goal is to remain in the industry and grow with the busy and thriving Monks Oswestry team.
